It is very important to keep you're computer protected from Viruses, Malware, Spyware, Worms, Rootkits, Rogues and any Security Threats! If you are not running any Antivirus Software you should immediately install Antivirus Software to protect you're computer from the nasty threats on the web. You certainly don't want to have to reformat and install the Operating System from a nasty web threat!
